Joana qualified as an Occupational Therapist from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, and is currently completing her Master’s in Sensory Integration at Ulster University. She is Sensory Integration trained, with a strong interest in supporting children with sensory processing and regulation differences.
Joana has experience working across the paediatric age range, supporting children and young people with complex and additional needs in private clinics and school settings in both Manila and the UK, including mainstream primary and secondary schools, SEMH provisions, and complex needs schools.
Joana believes in a child-centred and strengths-based approach, recognising each child’s unique sensory profile, emotional needs, and developmental stage. She is DIR® Floortime, Sensory Integration, and SOS Feeding trained, and places strong value on building trusting relationships with children and families to support engagement, regulation, and participation in everyday activities.
She works collaboratively with families, Speech and Language Therapists, schools, and other professionals, using a sensory-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approach to help children feel safe, understood, and supported to thrive.
